Milbank LLP received a Pro Bono Publico Award at the LatinoJustice 2021 Annual Gala, a virtual event held on November 10. Milbank attorneys Mark Villaverde, Alexis Sainz and Jonathan Ohring accepted the award on the firm’s behalf.~~Milbank was recognized for its ongoing work with LatinoJustice related to the obtaining of U Visas, which are granted to undocumented persons who are victims of a qualifying crime or criminal activity and were (or are or are likely to be) helpful to law enforcement or government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity. For more than 40 years LatinoJustice has acted as an advocate for creating a more just society by using and challenging the rule of law to secure transformative, equitable and accessible justice.~~Milbank has a longstanding relationship with LatinoJustice and has been working with the organization for more than 20 years on its immigration advocacy efforts. The firm collaborates with a range of immigration-focused legal service providers and immigration clinics, including Sanctuary for Families and Asian Americans Advancing Justice, on matters involving representation of individual clients as well as large-scale class action cases.
